Various Stuff, ya know the drill!
Now then, this shirt is very very cool!
In other news ;) the weather over here seems to have improved somewhat and today was pretty warm, around 25 deg C in Manchester. Must have been those Italians who where here for some reason.
I'm supporting... erm... Italy! :)

The Matrix : Reloaded?
Went to see The Matrix Reloaded with reasonably high expectations after the first movie.
Oh Dear!
I was disappointed I'm afraid. While it was an enjoyable enough way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday Afternoon it really didn't move the plot far enough forward for my liking. I'm not going to do a full red pill review and give what little there is away but I will say there are certain points which are laboured again and again.
Like Agent Smith. OK, he's a virus - WE GET IT! Don't explain the same point 15 times
Neo. Jeez, give the guy a superman costume! The whole thing of him flying round and the cheesy "I've never seen anything as fast." Puleeeze! The guy is a pair of underpants short of being superman...
This was two hours getting to a point which could have been explained in less than 30 mins and left another couple of hours to just finish the story off.
Matrix Reloaded is a placeholder movie just because the Wachowski's wanted it to be a trilogy. Be warned.
There are others who agree, like this chap.
I reckon you should save your cash and watch Odd Todd instead.

Cats
At last, we find out that other people agree with us about something.
A recent survey finds that cats are pretty much as unpopular as rats when they 'visit' other people's gardens. There are far too many cats around our neighbourhood and they've been nothing but nuicances, killing birds and squirrels then leaving the remains in our back garden... Evil on four paws.

Beauty
Very interesting article on why people find other people attractive here. As an aside to that, on the BBC News website you can find a story about a woman who has insured herself against becoming unattractive...
Nothing much happening at work now, most people just waiting for the axe to fall (including myself). Also in 'getting ready for holiday' mode as I'm going on holiday in just over a month! :)
Just seen the guy who left a while ago and he seems to be having a ball. His new employers sent him to London for a few days. He's being sent to Barcelona in a couple of weeks for a few days then in a couple of months he's going to Singapore. I'm totally jealous!
I'm still looking around but there just isn't much out there right now. I'm still confident I'll find something before this place goes under though... Reckon I have until the end of the year...

Welcome back my friends...
... to the show that never ends.
I'm so glad you could attend...
Come inside, come inside.
It's been a while hasn't it? Never mind, been more bothered about the whole redundancies thing.
Anyway, as an update to that it now transpires that suddenly they don't think there will be any redundancies until September. They seem to very much be on the back foot now because they've screwed up BIG TIME by letting the cat out of the bag waaay too early. So, while I'm bothered about it and looking for another position (here or Canada, makes no odds to me) there doesn't appear to be much to be bothered about *right now* if what they're saying is true (although I have no faith that it actually is as they're a bunch of lying toerags who ran one of the most successful ISP's in history into the ground (KPNQwest)).
So, for your delectation we have George W Bush's resume and an article from SFGate.
Enjoy.
Until next time (maybe soon, maybe not).

Sigh
And we're off.... :(
The new MD came in yesterday and laid it on the line. 35% of the UK workforce to be made redundant by the end of the year, mostly from Operations rather than from Sales.
IMHO, THAT SUCKS!
A bunch of American Capital Venture idiots came in, bought four different internet companies with four different networks and differing ideas on what customer base to go for, attempted to smash them together to make them work and then wonders why it didn't.
The plain fact of the matter is that the company as it is now has LESS customers than ONE of the initial companies did four years ago. The churn rate is also absolutely through the roof.
In less than four years they've turned an internet company on the verge of profit into a company burning over $8,000,000 per quarter with no end in sight.
I've said it in other entries but now I 100% mean it. TIME TO GO!

The Honda advert again...
.... according to the Guardian, the advert wasn't done in one take.
iPod
OK, I need an iPod!
If someone had given me an iPod as part of my studies when I was uni I may even have been interested in the classes I was attending!
Anyone got an iPod to donate to a poor middle manager? ![]()
