Sigh.

Just a quick link to a really good visualisation of just how seriously the USA takes the issue of rebuilding Iraq...

Depressing.

'TIME-TRAVELER' BUSTED FOR INSIDER TRADING

I just had to post this.

Crazy story...

NEW YORK -- Federal investigators have arrested an enigmatic Wall Street wiz on insider-trading charges -- and incredibly, he claims to be a time-traveler from the year 2256!

Sir Michael of the Moore

Well. This is interesting...

It seems that Michael Moore, that well known rabble rouser, has decided what his next movie will be about.

It will explore the business relationship between the bin Laden's and the Bush's. Yep, you read that right and yep it IS the business relationship between the families you're thinking of (you know, the terrorist and the presidents).

Should be interesting, especially as it looks like it'll be ready for distribution around the time of the 2004 US election...

More info (not much though) available here

Squizzercide and other things.

A couple of days ago (and you'll know about this already if you go to Carla's Blog) we had a case of squizzercide in the back yard. Basically a cat (christened Mr. Fluffy by us - one mean little mother with a 'tood) from one of the neighbours (the stuck-up ones who think they own the place) killed a squirrel in our back yard.

Not content with just killing the squirrel it decided to eat it in our back yard as well. All we found were the back legs. :(

That was our visitor squirrel! A squirrel (even though it was an American grey and not a UK red) that brought us countless hours of amusement with his antics. That's the second squirrel that's bought it near us. We had another one that used to visit that got squashed on the main road near our house about a year ago.

All I'm going to say is... Watch out Mr Fluffy, just when you're not expecting it you're going to get kicked the length of the street you murderer.

In other notes, will the real George Bush please stand up please stand up. Well, we actually wish he'd stand down but you can't have everything can you. Can you?

I found a fantasy blog share trading game called blogshares today and I'm pleased to say that my blog is worth more than Carla's even if it's only temporary and I'm sure it will be! :)

What else have I done this weekend??? Oh yeah, we bought a shed from this place.

I also found both Osama bin Laden and Saddam's blog and I respectfully submit them for your perusal. :)

So, until next time (and no, I don't know when that will be Keith).

Cya!

Shocked.

Blimey.

I can't believe it.

The very last person on Earth I actually thought would hand me his resignation did so today. He's got a job as a software developer for a security company. I didn't do my managerial duty and attempt to talk him out of it because I know he's much better off out of this place.

GOOD LUCK TO HIM I SAY!

I can only hope that I am successful in my job hunt soon as well. Did I mention that? No, of course I didn't! ;)

I finally placed my CV out in the field and I guess it's a matter of waiting to see what happens and whether I get offered anything. It's kinda hard in the field I work because agencies and recruiters hold all the positions - the job centres don't even get a look in once you get into this kind of work. Wish me luck... In one day my CV has had 37 'hits' so I'm hopeful I'll either start getting emails or phone calls soon.

Hopefully.

In the absence of a real blog.

... There may be one later today if I feel generous.

I thought I would share this link for Spam Turkey.

Not only but also... The preview story for Gulf War II: The Vengeance.

OK, Americans - just what is wrong with you people? Get over the whole France thing already. Face facts - some people just don't agree with you or the way you're attempting to bully the world into doing just what you want. I can't even believe that Reckitt Benckiser had to release this press release just in case people stopped buying their mustard.

Get over it! Move on.

On Receiving News of War

by Isaac Rosenberg (killed April 1918)

Snow is a strange white word;
No ice or frost
Have asked of bud or bird
For Winter's cost.

Yet ice and frost and snow
From earth to sky
This Summer land doth know,
No man knows why.

In all men's hearts it is.
Some spirit old
Hath turned with malign kiss
Our lives to mould.

Red fangs have torn His face.
God's blood is shed.
He mourns from His lone place
His children dead.

O! ancient crimson curse!
Corrode, consume.
Give back this universe
Its pristine bloom.

Well...

... I'm back - kinda. You still shouldn't expect really frequent updates though! ;)

I've been back in work a couple of days now and only a couple of people have bothered to give me any condolences. Notably my boss was only bothered that I'd come back when I saw him today for all of 30 seconds before he dashed off.

You'd really think that people would be a little more caring but I'm obviously wrong.

Anyway, went back to the great (not) news that another bunch of staff were being put "at risk" which essentially means "you've got 4 weeks to find another job cos you're going to be out of here by then" so yet again we're losing some really good people... However, we're recruiting sales people and "customer care" people. Eventually the entire company will be nothing but sales and customer care with no tech staff to back them up it seems.

It really does seem to me that this company just have no idea what they're doing at all.

Genuinely time to start looking for something else I think.

On another note, this story shows political correctness gone completely mad.

What is wrong with this country? We're supposed to be a Christian country yet it seems that every small thing or tradition that shows that is being ripped away because some small amount of people think it usurps their rights in some way.

Madness. Pure and simple.

If you're wondering where I am...

... you've obviously not been reading Carla's blog!

I've been going through a very stressful time both with work and personally. This has resulted in my being pretty sick and having a very bad mouth / throat infection which has left me unable to talk in words of more than one syllable. At the moment I'm talking in sign language (not proper American Sign Language) but my own version which includes a grunt and a pointy finger! ;)

I'm slowly getting better, and much to C's disappointment, I reckon I'll be able to actually talk and eat properly by the end of the week or so.

The other thing that's knocked me for 6 is the loss of my mother on the morning of 4 March. Totally unexpected. I loved my Mum and to lose her so suddenly leaves a huge hole in my Heart. It'll be a while before I can really talk about it.

So, that's what's happening in my life at the moment and why I can't really be bothered to update the blog. Eventually I'll get back into it but right now... No.
