New links and stuff...
... Today I add two new links to the hall of fame over on the right there...
First off we have What if "Lord of the Rings" had been written by someone else? which is completely amazing. Work still isn't finished on this one yet but there are many many different takes on the LOTR books in differing styles on this page. WELL worth a look. Kept me occupied for quite a bit of the afternoon! :)
Secondly we have for your delectation FunJunkie which is a UK based team-blog. Some of the links are a bit rude but if you overlook that it's well worth a visit as there are many many links to great websites you'd probably never find otherwise.
On another note, I finished my management training yesterday. Not that I get a certificate or anything but hey, at least I finished it! It's turned out to be actually reasonably interesting and quite a bit of it will have a practical use. For instance, I found out that when in a team I tend to take on the role of "shaper" which is essentially the person who leads the team and doesn't take any rubbish from anyone. Nice role! :) There was lots of other stuff about not taking on other people's monkeys and stuff like that but pretty good all in all.
Don't know what the next course will be but at least I can put this one down in the personal development section of my CV! :)
I've also decided I should take some courses at night school and get interested in some other stuff. Got a prospectus today but won't be able to start anything until August really as I've got loads of commitments until then. Never mind, gives me plenty of time to think about what to do.
Work is really the same old same old with everyone running round saying everything is urgent when it's not... When will they learn that crying wolf will get them nowhere and eventually they will need something urgently and they'll get ignored??? They'll end up sounding like the teacher on the Charlie Brown cartoons... "waaak waaaakk" eheheh :)

An actual blog? Never?
It's about time though, eh?
There's not *really* that much to tell you all, work is really the same old same old stuff. Loads of people asking for stuff that is apparently super-super-urgent and the MD is involved and wants the costings by 11am. Then, of course, when they get it just sitting on it for a few hours then asking more stupid questions about the costings they've been given... Either that or the classic example of waiting til the day that the quote needs to go to the customer and adding 19 new sites but wanting the costings for each site back within 2 hours because "it's urgent and the MD wants to give the customer the price personally."
This is just craziness and no way to actually run a business. Surely people should take a little pride in something they've been working on for more than 2 months. Well, enough pride to actually make sure they've captured all the information and got all the costings in enough time to meet all deadlines rather than finding out at the very last second that they've actually missed 50% of the sites and information required.
Still, never mind. It's just work. No longer thinking of being here as a career as I have nowhere to move to, and no prospect of ever becoming a director.
This is nuts, why am I grinning and bearing staying here? I don't actually know any more. Probably because it's something I know and it's close to home. It means I can stay in the comfort zone rather than going outside I guess.

Apparently...
... I am Boston.

Congratulations, you're Boston, the rebel city.
What US city are you? Take the quiz by Girlwithagun.
Boston, Massachusetts
Considered to be the birthplace of American Independence, Boston is well known for it's stubborn and forward thinking nature. With it's small streets that beckon you to explore them, it is the perfect place to live if you would like to walk everywhere. It is because of this that Boston is considered closer to Europe than the rest of the states. The residents there not only have their own unique pronunciation and vocabulary, but their own grammatical construct as well. If you plan on visiting, make sure you understand their language to avoid being snickered at.
