Who next? Who?
So, Christopher Eccleston has quit Dr. Who after just one series because he "fears being typecast".
He fears being typecast? He's got to be kidding, right?
It is me, or does he play the 'Northern Nutter' character in pretty much everything he does already?
I am so disappointed that the BBC have wasted yet another Who regeneration as they appear to be counting the (pretty awful, IMHO) eighth incarnation played by Paul McGann in the timeline. This makes Eccleston Dr. number 9. Regenerating is something the Dr. can only do 12 times in all so he's only got three regenerations left after Eccleston...
Who next?
Well, according to the BBC story they're talking to David Tennant about the role. I can't say I'm convinced that he'd be a great Dr... Still, if he's the choice then so be it. They really need to ensure that the next actor to play the role is tied in for a number of series though rather than letting him do an Eccleston and leave after one.
Figures! Haven't even seen the first episode yet and he's given up already?

Posted by: Richard at April 1, 2005 10:39 PMTennant will be brilliant. He was great in Casanova, and is a really accomplished actor. I have every faith in him. I wish Billie Piper would leave though...

I totally agree with sophi :)
Chris was ok, but he didnt live up to the huge hype of a "northen" timelord
I've been enjoying the new Dr.Who series. I don't mind Billie Pipsqueak as much as I thought I would, or Christopher Ecclestone (although Garry is right - he does play mad nothern bloke rather too often these days).
David Tennant I think will be a good Dr. He was good in Casanova and proved his stuff in the remake of Quatermass a few weeks ago - 2 hours of LIVE TV - very exciting stuff I thought!
Strange coincidence though that the guy who wrote the Casanova script has been writing the Dr.Who stuff too ;-)
