Why is it?

Why is it that whenever you think you're starting to even slightly perhaps maybe get ahead life decides to come along and show you who's boss?

Just when everything starts to look as though we might be able to turn from being pessimists about everything things start to go wrong again...

This morning, so far, the following has happened...

The washing machine has broken again, this is the 2nd time in 18 months. The drum isn't turning. I reckon I know what it is -- the drive belt will either have slackened and come off the back of the drum or will have snapped but this of course isn't a part thats easy to get to without the right tools which I, of course, don't have! So, a swift call to a repair dude results in him asking if we're in tomorrow which we're not so the earliest it can even be looked at is wednesday. It would have been today but today is a Bank Holiday so none of the repair dudes are working and even if they were, it would probably have been double-bubble to get them out here. So wednesday it is. Last fix was £50, this will probably be around the same.

Then, just as we'd finished whinging about that, the dressing on C's tooth came off again.

Hopefully this is crappy happening #3 and we're all done. Certainly we're looking at bills we weren't expecting now...

Ah, now you're thinking "Hang on, there were only two crappy happenings there. Where's the other one you big phony?" There's another story behind this. As I mentioned in the previous post I finally got a contract. One of the things I had to do when I got the contract was either set up a ltd co to be billed or find an umbrella organisation I could work through. I went down the umbrella route -- simply because it was the least hassle. Unfortunately it took them over a week to get me set up on their systems by which time I had missed the opportunity to invoice the agency for my time during the first week of the contract. This has finally been sorted out but it does mean I now have two invoices outstanding rather than one and there may be tax implications (i.e., I may end up paying too much) and I'm in the position of waiting for my dosh rather than having some in the bank. SIGH.

So hopefully these are the three things that constitute our crappy luck in life for now. I really hope there aren't any more coming anyway!
