What If

—what if we can’t find work when we’re in Canada
—what if we find it boring over there and miss going to concerts and out for meals like we do in the UK
—what if we find the pace of life too slow
—what if we can’t make friends
—what if we don’t feel Canadian
—what if we can’t find a place to fit in
—what happens if we found out we made a huge mistake but we can’t afford to move back to Britain

…To Be Continued

What if all (or most) of the above... in one's home country?

What if all of that... and anywhere else would be even worse?

My feeling is that you guys will do just fine here in Canada. If you can scrape by there in soggy old England, I -know- you'll do great here in Canada. :)

—what if we can’t find work when we’re in Canada

You can and will.

—what if we find it boring over there and miss going to concerts and out for meals like we do in the UK

I don't miss England in the slightest, apart from my friends. People here are overall much friendlier than the UK, and according to other Torontonians their city is one of the least friendly places!

—what if we find the pace of life too slow

You find things to do to keep yourself busy

—what if we can’t make friends

Unless you are utterly detestable, I'm sure there will be no problem ;) All the Canadians I have met are very friendly and helpful to "newcomers".

—what if we don’t feel Canadian

Who cares? There are so many different people here all doing their own thing I don't think it matters!

—what if we can’t find a place to fit in

See above.

—what happens if we found out we made a huge mistake but we can’t afford to move back to Britain

It won't happen, but may just require some persistance. If you aren't happy in England, what have you go to lose?

If you don't try, then you'll never find out the answers to any of these questions. This may be a cliche, but you only live once, so live your life to its max.

--what if we can’t find work when we’re in Canada : you will, you have experience and willingness.
—what if we find it boring over there and miss going to concerts and out for meals like we do in the UK : you will find things to do, concerts, dinner theatre, plays, movies, there is a diverse selection of things to do.
—what if we find the pace of life too slow: you shan't, if you do I guess you move to a larger Canadian center!
—what if we can’t make friends : not even a consideration --- I can tell you are friendly and will not have this be a problem..
—what if we don’t feel Canadian : we are so multi-cultural that you will easily fit into the melting pot and become one with us.
—what if we can’t find a place to fit in : I can't see that happening.
—what happens if we found out we made a huge mistake but we can’t afford to move back to Britain : you will stay longer and find that you judged too soon? Or... you will stay longer and bank funds to move back to the U.K.
